We had Thursday and Friday off from school, so we decided to take advantage of our break. We haven't been on any sort of trip for what seems like forever so we were stoked to get away for a few days. We headed out Wednesday night on the red eye to New York. When we got to New York our plan was to get a rental car and drive to Florida and hit as many cool things to see along the way. On our first day we stopped in Philadelphia. We went to the Independence National Historic Park (not sure of the real name but its something like that.) The Historic Park is where the Declaration of Independence and constitution was signed. It was also where the constitutional convention was held. The liberty bell is also located there. We took a tour of all that stuff. It was cool to be there. After Philly, we headed towards Washington D.C. It wasn't in our plans to stop in D.C. since we have been there so many times before and seen almost everything there is to see, however we were all completely exhausted from getting no sleep the night before and them driving/sightseeing most of the day so far. So we got to D.C. and called it a day. We got a hotel room for a pretty decent price and were looking forward to crashing. *Funny side story* When we finally found out hotel it was in downtown D.C. near the capitol. Perfect location, super nice Hotel. When we pulled up to the front doors of the hotel the Valet guy informed us that they only offered valet parking and it was only $42 a day. Wait WHAT? $42 a day?? Are you joking me? Nope! We don't ever have a car when we go to D.C. so we didn't even think about having to pay for parking. After like an hour of arguing with people about the ridiculous amount for parking and not being able to find anything else much cheaper, we ended up paying for it. It wasn't funny at the moment, but the rest of the trip we joked about it and now we have a good laugh about it. The next morning we headed to Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon was George Washington's estate which is where he lived in a mansion and spent much of his time his tomb is also there. We spent the entire day wandering around the estate and taking a tour of his mansion. It was absolutely beautiful. His mansion was huge and gorgeous. The view from his back porch is the Potomac River and a bunch of trees. It was beautiful! I learned a lot about George Washington and gained an even greater respect for him. After Mount Vernon we were on the road again. We ended up in Raleigh, NC for the night. That was another adventure in and of itself trying to find a hotel for the night. The next morning we were on the road again and headed to Kings Mountain. Kings Mountain is a National Military Park. It was a battle site during the revolutionary war. We took a tour of the museum they have there and then took a short walk along the battlefield trail and saw the battlefield from the revolutionary war. The description on the internet made Kings Mountain sound much cooler then it actually was, but it was still really pretty and cool to learn and see actual sited from the war. After Kings Mountain we were back on the road and drove the rest of the way to Florida and then we flew home. It was a fun trip. I wish we would have gotten to do a little more, however I don't think we realized how long the drive would actually be. We probably wont ever do it again but it was fun one time. :) We didn't take any pictures. These are the ones Erik's mom took and sent to my phone.

This sign was on the vending machine at Kings Mountain. As everyone knows we are having a BABY! Yes it's true, as crazy as it sounds! We are so excited/anxious/nervous/excited!! We found out a couple of weeks ago we are having a BOY! I was shocked. I thought for sure it was a girl. But we are just as excited for baby boy Bartlett. (We don't have a definite name yet. We have it narrowed down to 2.) Anyhow, Baby boy bartlett is set to arrive Feb. 24, 2012. We are so excited and can't wait to meet him!

Rome/Barcelona

Back in March over spring break we took a trip to Rome, Italy and then stopped over in Barcelona, Spain for a night. Nick and Erica (Erik's parents) came with us and it was fun to have some company. Like all of our other trips it was quick. We only got a day and a half in Rome and then a day in Barcelona and then it was back home. I wish we could have had a little bit more time but it was a blast nonetheless. We arrived in Rome first thing in the morning and took a train into the city to try and find our hotel. That was an adventure in and of itself. With us speaking no Italian, and the Italians speaking no english (or them pretending they didn't because europeans are kinda rude) we walked in circles forever arguing about which way we should go. Finally after finding the bus we were supposed to get on we find a guy who speaks english. He tells us we are on the right bus # but we are headed the wrong direction. So off at the next stop we go and hop on the same bus going in the opposite direction. We FINALLY find our hotel and get settled. At this point we were exhausted, and we hadn't even seen anything yet. I hadn't slept a wink on the entire plane ride so by the time we got to Rome I was ready for bed. However, because we only had a limited amount of time we headed out to explore Rome. In the beginning we were having a hard time figuring out where to go but Nick did a good job navigating. We went to see the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, The Pantheon, and some other old buildings that im not sure what they were but the architecture was awesome. I was also sure to make sure I ate plenty of gelato. The first gelato place I saw I got some. It was Delish! After wandering around for a while we were exhausted and soaked. It rained nearly the entire time we were in Rome. Smart us didnt bring an umbrella, but luckily Erica came prepared and let us borrow one and then we bought another. We literally came home soaked every night and layed our clothes and shoes out to dry for the next day. When we got back to the hotel we all just crashed. The next morning because of the jet lag I was wide awake at 4 am. Once we were all up we decided to see the Collesseum and then head to the Vatican. The Collesseum was AWESOME! It was by far our favorite part of the trip. Its crazy to think about how old it is and what when on there. It is just massive! After that we went to the Vatican. We walked through a huge museum to get to the Sistine Chapel to see the MichaelAngelo Painting. You werent supposed to take pictures but we were sneaky and got a few okay ones. The rest of the time we just wandered the city. The city was so cool. I just loved the atmosphere. The only thing we didnt do was eat and real Italian food. We did go to a few Pizzerias but I was to scared to eat the pizza. they precook everything and then just have tons of different pizzas sitting under a heat lamp all day and then when you order they warm it back up for you. Not my idea of good so i passed on that. Everything else just looked weird and so i settled for gelato :) On our way home we decided to stop in Barcelona. (Actually that was the only way we could get home was to go to Barcelona first. Joys of standby.) We just had 1 day there so we decided to take a bus tour through the city. We have figured out those are the best ways to see an entire city in one day. It was nice to just sit and relax, but I got too relaxed and slept through most of it. All in all Barcelona was a pretty cool place. The next day we came home. It was short and sweet. I LOVED Rome (despite the rain) and cant wait to go back! It is probably my favorite place we have been so far. Here are a bunch of pics from our trip. Sorry for the picture overload.

Erik and I In Barcelona, Spain

The Vatican. I feel like life has just been going a million miles an hour the last couple months and I am really struggling to keep up. But thats life right? Christmas break came and went. It was nice to have a break from school and be able to spend at least a little time with family. It was kinda depressing this year. It didnt seem much like christmas because we were just so busy and ended up working most of our christmas break. It just all went by way to fast. Erik and I both had to work christmas eve so we spend christmas just the two of us. It turned out alright. Erik humored me as I tried to make christmas eve less depressing by making him help me build a gingerbread house that collapsed not 5 min after we were done making it. LOL He also bought oreo cookies and set out cookies and milk for santa. It was pretty funny. We woke up christmas morning and opened all our awesome gifts. I got a laptop and a few other things and erik got a Playstation 3 and a few other things. We had fun playing with them all morning. I made a yummy christmas breakfast. Other then work that was pretty much the extent of our christmas vacation. Pretty lame! oh well! School started back up the first of january. I felt jipt (sp??) out of winter break because we started a week earlier then EVERY other university or college in Utah. School has been extremely busy and stressful. We are now having to drive to Orem 4 days a week. it sucks!! This last weekend I went to St. George to enjoy the warm sunny weather but mostly to run a 5K. I have been wanting to be more consistant in my exercising. I always seem to do really well at exercising regularly for a month or so then I stop, so I decided to sign up for a race as motivation to keep going. It worked pretty well. I ran nearly 6 days a week for a month before the race. The race was alot of fun. I ran 3.1 miles and finished with a time of 29.43 and got 8 out of 36 in my age division, and I even beat my previous 5K time by nearly 5 min. I give most the credit for me doing well to my dad. He ran it with me and kept me running instead of stopping to walk. All in all it was fun and I am looking forward to doing another! That is about all we have been up to. Our next big adventure is spring break and we are planning on going to Rome and Isreal! very excited! see ya!

p.s. sorry no pictures. im blogging from my new laptop and have yet to put our camera stuff on this computer.

Grandma

Since I'm using my blog as sort of a journal so I figured it was appropriate to do a post dedicated to my grandma.

My Grandma Everett Passed away yesterday morning. Although she hasn't been well for a little while, it still was unexpected. I have a lot of memories with my Grandma Everett seeing as she lived next door all my life. I remember always going down to her house to visit and her giving us ice cream cones, and one of my favorites, bread and butter. I remember having to mow her lawn every summer and her standing on the front porch watching my every move to make sure I didn't mow over her flowers. (I had done it in the past. In my defense they looked like weeds.) At the end of the summer I usually got a check for $5 :) As I got a little older and after my grandpa had passed away, she always came up to our house for sunday dinner. Between her rocket boosters and 5 gallon bucket of asperagus story she kept us entertained. She would always sit with us in church, and I would always sit with her in relief society and try to hold her up as she would slowly tip from falling asleep. These, along with many other precious memories is what I love most about my grandma. My Grandma has been alone for almost 8 years now since my grandpa passed away. I can only imagine the wonderful reunion she is now having with him, along with her son she lost at birth, her parents, and many other loved ones.

I love and miss you so much grandma. I know you are in a better place. I look forward to the day that I will see you again.

Thanksgiving

While I'm at it, I guess I will just keep updating. Thanksgiving was a lot of fun this year. We spent it with the Bartlett's in Kanab. It was a long awaited vacation/holiday that went by way to fast. To start off, we headed out Tues. morning. We had decided we were going to drive, and just head out after class Tuesday afternoon. However, the day before there was a Blizzard warning. It was supposed to be extremely bad weather. I was a little nervous about it, especially since the roads between here and southern Utah can be scary in bad weather. We ended up just heading right out. While on our way down we had gotten just a little bit south of Nephi when a car had rolled right in front of us. We hurried and pulled over, along with about 8 other cars. Erik ran over to make sure everyone was ok. The car was seriously damaged. All the windows were shattered, all the belongings that were in the car had been thrown out of the car all over the road. When Erik got there, there was just one lady in the car, and she was bleeding and unconciouss. She was wearing a seatbelt, which saved her life, she would have been thrown out of the car otherwise. Erik helped out until the paramedics and police arrived. It seriously took 25 min for any law enforcement or medical personnel got to the scene. I thought it was kind of ridiculous it took that long. especially since we had seen a million cops sitting on the side of the road not to far back. Anyways, the woman did end up regaining concioussness and aside from minor cuts and bruises was ok. After that incident, we got back on the road and got to Kanab without any problems. While in kanab we just did alot of relaxing and hanging out. It was nice to not have worry about school or work for a few days. Thanksgiving was really good. The food was very yummy and I ate far to much. But hey, thats what we do on thanksgiving right? On thanksgiving night I headed down to st. george to do black friday. Black friday has become sort of a tradition for me and my sisters and mom. the night started out at midnight at wal-mart. it was complete madness. we werent allowd to touch anything or put anything in carts before midnight. As soon as it turned midnight it just turned crazy. I couldnt believe how ridiculous some people are. there was so much screaming and yelling and swearing and pushing and shoving it was out of control. I for one got all of that. I was pushed and shoved and sworn at and everthing else. It was kinda funny actually. After walmart I met up with my sisters and mom and headed out to everything else. We hit up walmart again, (electronics didn't go on sale till 5), kohls, old navy, big lots, JC Penny, and then ended with starbucks for hot chocolate. It was a long night. I didnt sleep at all. On Saturday I went back to St. George for my sisters baby shower. It turned out really good, and once again, I ate far to much. Then a sever weather alert came out and everyone had to leave quickly to get home before the storm hit. It was kinda a sad ending to a fun weekend, but it's a good thing we headed out when we did. When we woke up sunday morning there was so much snow. it continued to snow all day long. We honestly had probably about a foot and a half of snow at our house. All in all it was a great weekend. Thanks to everyone for making it so much fun!

Campin'

A few weeks ago while I was on Ksl.com I saw the Pres. Bush was going to be coming to Salt Lake to do a book signing for his new book. When I told Erik, he being a huge Bush fan, insisted that we go. I'm not really into politics, and as bad as it sounds I am extremely uneducated, so I didn't really care to go. I mean its cool to be able to meet a former President of the U.S. and all but it just didn't sound like my thing. The president was scheduled to start the book signing on Friday afternoon at 1. When Erik told me we would have to camp out I was thinkin more like show up around midnight, maybe even early in the morning like 5 ish. That was anything but the case. On Thursday after school we decided to stop at costco, where the book signing was being held, just to get a little more info on it. When we got there the line was already started. There were about 20 people already in line and the signing was 24 hours away. Erik freaked out and said we have got to get in line. LOL We ran home and packed our things got blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, chairs, snacks, etc. We were going camping lol. At this point I was not the least bit excited. I was not looking forward to camping outside costco in freezing weather all day and night. However, thats what we did. It was complete madness. At 3 pm on thurday afternoon, 22 hours before this shindig was supposed to happen we were already camped outside costco. It was the longest 22 hours of my life. However, I would be lying if said it wasn't a little bit fun. At 1 pm the following afternoon we met pres. Bush. We shook his hand, he signed our book, and we had a very brief conversation. It was very cool. How often do you get to meet a president of the U.S.? It is indeed a once in a lifetime chance. After all was said and done we ended up being numbers 21 & 22 out of over 1500 people in line to meet the president. We were both on KSL 5 news a few times as well. In my opinion that was the coolest part.haha JK. For some reason we never take pictures of anything but here is one that was on KSL. It shows erik standing in the line. I was sitting on the ground. at this point we had been standing for 4 hour after being out in the cold for 21 hours, so im a little tired :). There is also a video clip from KSL on my facebook that shows me.

Long Time, No Blog

So I was looking at our blog and I realized I haven't blogged in like 4 months. Seems like there should be so much to catch up on but honestly there isn't. Kinda depressing I know. Summer seemed to just fly by. In July we went to to Washington D.C. with Erik's family for the 4th. We didnt stay for the 4th celebrations because Erik had to work. I always feel so guilty leaving Erik home over holidays, but I have been kicking myself ever since for not just staying in D.C. I watched the 4th of July celebration that they have at the Capitol building on T.V. and it was totally awesome. I so wish I could have been there. All in all it was a fun quick trip. We love D.C. After D.C. we didnt do anything major, Erik was doing summer school, so we just stayed home and did a few little quick trips to see family. In July I had my birthday and turned 22. I cant believe it, i feel so old! School Started in August and has been super stressful for me. I dont know why but I feel like I just have so much going on. I am preparing to start the ELED program so I have been working on all my pre reqs. Part of that is to work in a public school for 30 Hours, so on top of my full time school schedule, and work, I have that. I have really enjoyed it and it has reassured me that I have chosen the right career. In August Erik got offered a full time position as a Customer Service Agent for Delta. He had been working outside on the ramp. He seems to really be liking it. Its nice for him to have a full time position. There are a lot more perks that come with it. The beginning of the month Erik turned 24, he is gettin old too lol JK. That is pretty much all that is new. We are really looking forward to the holidays, and to spend time with family. Sorry no pictures, as you can tell we havent been up to anything exciting! K im done lol see ya!

Alaska

Now that school is out for the summer we are trying to do more and more traveling. Last week we headed to Anchorage, Alaska for a few days to visit Erik's Brothers, Sister in law, and Nephew. It was a lot of fun and nice to be able to get away even for just a few days. In my opinion Anchorage as a city is not that great of a city, but the surrounding area of Anchorage is absolutely amazing. Pretty much the only thing to do in Alaska is nature things, so that what we did. Both days we took a drive up the coast and saw the breathtaking mountains, water, trees etc. We found a really pretty creek that runs down the side of the mountain, and a trail that is right beside it. We drove the coast both days we were there because it was so pretty. The second day we decided to venture up the trail beside the creek for a bit. The weather was perfect, and the scenery was beautiful, but I was to worried about bears and moose to even enjoy the hike. We hiked for a little while then I made Erik turn around. It was a lot of fun! In Alaska there is a lot of wildlife, and I guess the wildlife just roams through the city. One day were were driving around the town and as we were coming down a pretty busy road there was a huge moose on the side of the road. We circled around to see it again and it was crossing the street. It was pretty wierd/funny/cool! Another sweet thing about Alaska is that during the summer time the sun stays up way longer. The sun was out shining till nearly 11 at night. It was so cool. It definitely made it tough on our sleep schedule but it was still way cool. Here are a few pics of our little adventure, and thanks to Kelli and Nicholas for letting us invade their apt. for a few days. We had fun!

The Moose roaming through the town

Us at the creek

Me at the creek

Scenery while hiking

Erik on the rocks at Beluga Point

Egypt

This last Sunday we set out on our journey to Cairo, Egypt. Erik had 10 days of vacation and so we wanted to go somewhere cool. We originally had planned to go to Rome, but the flights ended up not looking good, so Erik came up with Cairo. To be honest, I did not want to go. I tried and tried to convince him to go to Hawaii or Disneyland, or anywhere else BUT Egypt, but he was set on it. So Egypt it was. I was super nervous because the culture over there is so so so different then what we experience here in good ol' Utah. Most of the people over there are Muslim and the women are very modest. They are completely covered from head to toe. The men on the other hand can pretty much dress however they want. Before we left I did a bunch of research on how women tourists should dress and act, etc. everything I read said I should dress and act just like them. They will feel more respected and I will fit in, and avoid any harrasment from the men. I was not excited about having to wear long sleaves, long pants, and a scarf of my head in 100 degree heat. Needless to say I did. The only thing I didn't do was wear the scarf. Erik though I should, but I just felt to weird. I just made sure my hair was always pulled up. I was the only girl walking around that city with nothing covering my head. When we first got their we had our hotel come pick us up at the airport. Im glad we did, there was no way we could have made our way through the city and to our hotel on our own. The driving in Egypt is NUTS! I honestly dont think they have any sort or traffic/driving laws. People just drive as fast as they want, don't use any sort of signaling, don't drive in lanes, they just drive wherever they can fit in, and honk to let people know they are moving over. It was so scary. I felt pretty safe the entire time I was there except for when we were in the car driving places. The first day we got there we arrived in the evening and just hung out in our hotel room the rest of the night. We didn't dare venture out on our own to find something to eat and the receptionist told us Mcdonalds delivers there so we ordered mcdonalds and had it delivered. It was pretty funny. I didnt think it tasted all that good, erik thought it was fine. I was just glad to have something to eat. I hadn't eaten in several hours. That night we hardly slept we were so Jet lag. Erik managed to fall asleep for a few hours, I on the other hand didnt sleep a bit that night. I just layed in bed listening to them pray all night long. It was the wierdest/funniest thing I ever heard. At like 2 and 4 in the morning an in 10 minute intervals, you hear men just yelling outside (they are actually praying). I would just lay in bed and laugh! The next morning we arranged for out hotel to take us to the Pyramids. This is where all of our pictures were taken. We took a tour on horse and camel back to view the pyramids, tombs, and sphinx. Our tour guides thought it was so cool to take pictures of us doing wierd things with the pyramids in the back ground. That is why there are so many pictures of us doing crazy stuff around the pyramids. After our 2 hour visit to the pyramids, we were both so exhausted. It was flippin hott, we hadn't eaten, and I wasnt about to eat the egyptian food they were offering us, and we were tired from gettin no sleep the night before. Our tour guide hauled us around to a few more places and then we finally got him to take us to the airport. Our flight wasnt until 1 in the morning but we arrived at about 2 in the afternoon. We had 11 hours to kill. We ended up laying on a bench and each sleeping probably 5 hours. It felt so nice. I was so excited to finally be able to get on a plane in business class, have a normal American made meal, and be able to lay down and sleep the 13 hours to new york. However that is not how it worked out. Africa can often have a lot of cargo being shipped to the United States. When they put cargo on planes it limits the number of passengers that can be on board due to weight and balance. After sitting around for HOURS we were told we werent getting out. I was so frusterated! There were 50 open seats and they couldnt just put 6 more people on? NOPE.. Luckily another perk of working for the airlines is you can by ZED fares and fly standby on other airlines. There was a flight to Amsterdam leaving at 4 a.m. and once we got to Amsterdam there were plenty of seats open to Minneapolis and then on to SLC. That is what we ended up doing. It cost us a little more money then we had hoped/planned on spending, but it was worth it to finally get home. I was tired, and dirty and had to work friday morning. I just needed to get home. Its a good thing we did that because nobody got on the flight to New York out of Cairo again tonight. After a LONG 48 hours of being in airports and airplanes trying to get home we made it. It was so nice to be able to take a hot shower (we did shower there but everyone and their pet dogs, even the airport security guys as they are screening passenger smoke, so we constantly smelled like smoke) and just be home to relax. It was a fun trip. Erik really liked it. I thought it was ok, i mostly went for him.

below are just some of the MANY pics from our trip. Sorry for the novel and picture overload!

The Step Pyramid

The Sphinx

Erik & The Sphinx

Pyramid and some Tombs

Us riding our horse and camel. My butt is still sore from riding that stupid thing. It was a stupid horse. It wouldn't do anything. Erik looked so funny riding the camel. It was Hillarious. He was just so much higher up from everyone else. I couldnt help but laugh everytime I looked at him.

Jumping above the pyramids (One of the many things our tour guide made us do lol)

This is another one of the weird things our tour guide made us do. Please forgive me for not blogging. I will just give a quick run down of everything we have been up to over the last few months. Over spring break we went to Disneyland with Erik's family. I LOVE Disneyland and we had a blast. We got season passes again, and are super excited to be able to go more often again. It had been over a year since we had gone last because we had decided not to renew our passes from the previous year, however since we got free passes that would give us nearly $140 off the Season passes, we decided we couldn't pass it up! After Disneyland we had one more month of stressful school until summer. I honestly did not think I was going to make it. I had been working a ton, had a TON of homework, and was just flat out sick of school. However, in the end we made it! Erik finally got his Instrument Rating as a pilot. It is one of, if not the hardest ratings to get as a pilot. It took a lot of hard-work, but he was able to pass! It was a very exciting day! School got out for the summer a few weeks ago. It has been nice to finally relax and not worry about homework 24/7. Now that school is out we have also been able to finally do some traveling. We haven't done much traveling while in school, especially this semester, so it has been a lot of fun. Erik went to Canada and Alaska with his brother for a few days. Erik and I went to Hawaii for a few hours. We have gone to Cedar a couple times and most recently (which I will blog about next) we went to Egypt. It has been so much fun to be able to fully take advantage of our benefits, and we are looking forward to doing a bunch more traveling before school starts again in the fall. That is just a quick update and run down on what we have been up to. Sorry I dont have any pictures. We always forget to take pictures. Hope all is well with everyone!

San Francisco

This last weekend Me, Erik and Erica decided to go on a quick trip. We were originally going to go to Washington D.C., but since there were huge storms back there we ended up going to San Francisco. Our main Purpose in going there was to get some good seafood, but we also wanted to walk around all the little shops. We rented a car and had our GPS and we were set. We didn't even get lost. I'm sooo glad Erica was driving. The streets in San Francisco are crazy, and Erik is a scary driver, so crazy streets and crazy driver wouldn't have been a good combination! :) Our first Stop was Fishermans Wharf. We had reservations to eat lunch at a resturaunt on the pier, but got a recommendation from the car rental guy for a different place, which was also much cheaper, so we decided to try it out. The view from our table was amazing! It was awesome! Lunch was pretty good. The food itself tasted fine, the only downer was that my salmon had lots of little bones in it. After lunch we went over to get some sourdough bread that San Francisco is known for. It is so yummy! Afterward we walked around all the little shops on the streets. The shops along the streets are my favorite things about big cities. They always have the coolest stuff. After we finished up at Fishermans Wharf, we wanted to head up to Chinatown and look around, and go to the fortune cookie factory. When we got up to Chinatown, there were so many people. It was out of control! We decided to just head back to the airport and try and catch the earlier flight home. This trip was way fun. I have been to tons a big cities, and I am starting to think this just might be my new favorite. Erik keeps trying to tell me that New York is still my favorite, but I am not so sure. Anyways, this weekend was so much fun, and I cant wait for more to come!

Cable Car

San Francisco Streets

Sourdough Bread Factory (SO GOOD)

Our View From lunch

It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS!

Well it has been a while but honestly not much new has happened. We haven't traveled or done anything cool cause we have been busy with school. Hopefully when the semester ends next week we can go do something fun. We are so excited for Christmas. It is coming up so fast. Finals are this week. I cant wait for this week to be over so I can have a breather and a vacation from school and homework. I will admit though, this semester has been pretty easy for me which has been nice. I was so excited for winter/Christmas. It is my favorite time of year (minus the snow) I was so anxious to put the tree and decorations up. I thought I was crazy about Christmas, but this year Erik has been even more crazy about it. He has our little balcony all decked out with christmas lights and out window has little christmas decals on it. And if you notice the "Merry Christmas" sign above the tree, he insisted it go there. It wasn't exactly where I wanted it, but he thought it looked so good so thats where it is. Haha. I think he is loving the Christmas stuff this year cause he can actually enjoy it and have fun instead of working and being alone on the holidays. Other then Christmas stuff it has been snowing like crazy! The first picture is looking off our balcony up the street. I thought it looked way cool with all the snow and the trees are frosted and the apartment buildings and stuff.. and then the "I love snow" was all the snow on our balcony after the first snowfall of the season. I did love it that day, because I didnt have to go anywhere and I just sat at home listening to christmas music. last week we had a huge storm and we had to drive on the freeway to school in it. the freeways werent plowed and we were driving on like 4 inches of ice/snow. I know I am a horrible blogger, but we have also been so busy. It seems like we always have something to do. I will try and remember all things we have done over the last little while. On August 4, Erik and I and Nick and Erica went to New York City to climb the stairs of the statue of liberty to the crown. There were like 352 stairs, and it was really narrow. I'll admit I was kinda nervous. I am terrified of heights. It wasn't bad at all! It was way cool! Once we got up there the view was amazing! There wasn't much room up there. Maybe enough room for 8-10 people max. It was an awesome experience. Definitely one we will always remember. That was a last "big" trip for the summer before school. School started the end of August. It has been going really well, but school is school. Erik is still working on his flying, and his Aviation Administration degree, while I am working on my Elementary Education degree. Near the end of September I lost my job. Business was really slow so we closed our doors. It sucks. I loved that job and made some really great friends. It also worked really well with my school schedule, so i was really bummed about it. I have been applying EVERYWHERE, and I have has so many interviews, but nothing has come up yet. All I can do is keep trying, and hopefully something will come up soon! The first of October we got to go to Kanab and hang out with Erik's family. We don't get to go there very often, so it was alot of fun. We have also been having a good October cause the Yankees are on fire!! haha We have been watching so much baseball and we got the chance to go to Game 5 of the ALCS Yankees vs. Angels. It was a good game! We had a blast! Now it's back to school and job hunting, and we are holding out for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Erik FINALLY gets both holidays off so we can be together with our families. We can't wait!

Weeks in Review

Over the last couple weeks we have had some fun. First we went to my family reunion in Jackson, WY. While we were there we camped in Grand Teton National Park. I love to camp but I was totally freaked out. They have bears there so they have you take a little precautions. Anyone who knows me though knows I get extremly paranoid about things like this. I hardly slept the 2 nights we were there because I was sure a bear was going to come. Ridiculous I know. lol. The first day we were there we went to Yellowstone. It was so pretty. We went and saw the Old Faithful Geyser and walked around and saw all the other little geysers. It was alot of fun. We had to leave the next day because we had school/work. This past week was my birthday and I turned 21! I has such a good birthday thanks to awesome family and friends. We went to St. George to celebrate. Then on the 24th my dad and I signed up to run the 24th of July race in Enterprise. I have been training and working hard to get ready. I was terrified, but I did it. It was alot of fun and I feel really good about it. I am already planning on doing another one next month. For the rest of the week I just hung out in St. George with my family and friends. We swam, picnicked, 4 wheeled, shopped and ate way to much food. All in all its been a fun couple of weeks. Only about a month left of summer before school starts, and we are looking forward to that. I will upload some pictures later..Im tired lol

Summertime

Well its been a couple months, and to be honest not much has happened, although we have has some fun. Back on May 14 Erik was officially done working for Skywest. We were bummed but not 3 weeks later he was offered a position from Delta Airlines here in SLC as a ramp agent. We are super excited about it and so far so good. The only down side is its only part time, but we take what we can get right now. Since then we haven't done much. Just working and relaxing and enjoying summer before school starts again.

This last weekend we went to Kanab to visit Erik's family. Erik had to work on the 4th so we missed out on the festivities, but we still has a ton of fun. We left SLC on the 4th at 10:30 p.m. and headed for Kanab. This was the first time we have actually driven somewhere further then a hour and half since we have had our benefits. Erik was not to thrilled but we survived. After a long drive we finally made it to Kanab. While we were there we went to our nephew's (Erik's sisters baby) baby blessing , hung out with the family, and took family pictures. It was alot of fun and we did not want to leave. We stayed till the last minute possible and finally left last night at about 7:30 p.m. All in all it was a fun weekend and we cant wait to see everyone again.

Sorry about no pictures. We brought our camera but it never made it out of the car. lol

First Class Upstairs On A Boeing 747-400

So I know I'm crazy you don't have to tell me. :-). Last week I decided that since I have not flown on my most favorite aircraft (the 747) that I would fly to Hawaii and connect to a 747 back to Atlanta then fly back to Salt Lake City. Amy was supposed to go with me, and we were supposed to stay the night in Honolulu. But the night before we were to leave I looked at the flights and we weren't going to get first class and I don't fly that far and long in coach :-). I came up with the plan to just fly there and fly right back and we would get first class. Amy wasn't excited about that, I don't think many people would be unless they were into airplanes and flying as much as I am. So she decided to go to St. George and I went alone. I started out on the direct to Honolulu from SLC at 11:30 a.m. After a 7 hour flight I got to Hawaii and had 30 minutes to get on the flight back to Atlanta. I was so excited when they handed me my boarding pass and saw I was cleared not only in first class but upstairs!!!!!! The flight attendants laughed at me the whole flight because they had never seen anyone so excited to be on a plane. I was taking pictures and walking around, going downstairs exploring everything lol. Because we were going with the wind it only took 7 hours and 45 minutes to get to Atlanta. After we landed I let everyone exit so I could go talk to the pilots, they were so nice and friendly. I walk into the cockpit and introduced myself and they let me sit in the Captains chair and look around. It's amazing how many buttons, knobs, and levers there were. Anyway, we arrived at 5:00 a.m in Atlanta and I then waited a couple hours and took the direct flight back to SLC and landed at 10:30 a.m. The whole trip took 23 hours, 4 hours total in airports and 19 hours flying. 7,884 nautical miles, 9,072 statute miles. The distance around the entire world at the equator is 21,638 nautical miles and 24,901 statute miles. I had a blast!

AND IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT :-) !

65 first class seats 338 coach seats = 403 total passenger capacity!

I think the new delta colors and logo are the best of all the other airlines.

The view from my seat. As many of you know we have been living in a kinda crappy place. Its okay, but I definatly don't love it. Its old, Stinky, and dark. However, there are some brand new apartment just 2 streets down from where we are now that we have been trying to get into for about 5 months now, and we finally got lucky. Because Erik is most likely being furloughed from work and we are losing our flight benefits we hopped on the nonstop to Paris from SLC on Monday. We only had 2 days off so this was a more than quick trip. 10 hours there, 11 1/2 hours back and 23 hours in France. LOL yeah we know we are crazy. We sat in business elite both there and back which is amazing compared to coach. Now we didn't go to see Paris we went to see the beaches of Normandy where D-DAY took place. Normandy is about 2 1/2 hours from Paris, so being the brave people we are (mostly Erik) we rented a car and drove there. We brought maps with us and I read the maps and tried to navigate while Erik braved the crazy French drivers. We did really well seeing as everything is in French and neither of us speak a word of French. We didn't get lost at all. Once we got to Normandy we walked around the Omaha Beach Memorial. Its a Huge American memorial with an American Cemetery where 9,000 of our fellow Americans are buried. It was a very moving experience, and we are so glad we were able to have the chance to go even if it was for a very short time. After we took a tour of the memorial we took a little scenic drive along the coast of the English Channel. It was so gorgeous. After a while we decided to head back to Paris to check into our hotel. After all we had been going on only a couple hours of sleep. As soon as we got there we just crashed. We wanted to go see the Eiffel Tower the next morning before we had to go to the airport so we set our alarm for 4:30 am. We woke up got ready and headed out. We drove around for and hour and could not find the Eiffel Tower. I finally convinced Erik to head to the airport. Its a good thing we did cause we ended up being able to catch the direct back to SLC instead of having to go to Cincinatti first. After a long flight we got home at about 2 this afternoon. We are so glad we were able to go. Erik has been wanting to do this for so long and I have just been putting him off lol. I am a chicken and get so nervous going to a foreign country and not being able to understand anyone or have anyone understand us. And thats how it went. We couldn't understand anyone and they couldn't understand us. We felt so stupid. lol But it was a great experience. Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Ignore how bad we look. Life has been going really well for us. I catch you all up on what has been going on over the last month and a half. On Dec. 15 Erik and I celebrated our 1st anniversary. I can't believe it has been a year. Time has just been flying by! For our anniversary we decided to head down to California. We were there for 4 days. We had intended on going to disneyland, but it rained the entire time we were there. Erik still wanted to go. He says the best time to go to disneyland is when it is raining. I see his point but I just did not see the fun of being out in the rain and getting soaked, so we didn't go. Instead we went to a movie, did some shoppin and sat in the hot tub on the roof of our hotel. The other days we spent hanging with his cousins. It was a very much needed vacation and was very fun. The next week was Christmas. Erik of course had to work christmas eve and christmas. It sucked, but thats life I guess. We did however get to spend a few days before with both our families. It was nice to be with family for the holidays. On Christmas Eve Erik headed back to SLC to work and I stayed in St. George. I felt so bad having him spend Christmas alone. In the end he didn't actually have to spend much time alone. On Christmas Eve and Christmas there were some HUGE storms up here. Erik worked late on Christmas eve then had to be back to work at 7 a.m. Christmas morning. He was supposed to be off work at 10 p.m. that night but the weather told him otherwise. Due to the storm flights were delayed for several hours. He ended up workin 22 hours straight. From 7 a.m. christmas morning to 5 a.m. on the 26th. He then got to go home for 2 hours then had to be back to work at 7 a.m. on the 26th where he again worked another double shift. I came home on the 26th hoping to be able to spend some time with Erik since I hadn't seen him much in a little over a week. Little did I know that as a result of the delayed flights there was an unaccompanied minor that had misconnected and had to stay the night in SLC. Erik was then assigned to stay with him that night. He then worked the next day and the day following. After all was said and done in that 2 week period he ended up working nearly 120 hours. Thats double what he normally works. It was pretty wild! Its a good thing he loves his job and he is such a hard worker, or he may have never made it! ( wow that was alot)

January came and school started and we started to get back into our normal routine of things. I got a job the beginning of January and I really like it. Since being married and living here in Provo and SLC I have had a hard time with my jobs. However, this job opportunity came along rather quickly. I work at Mega Wraps. Its a Health Food place. It Kinda has weird food, but its way easy and I get paid rather well for what I do. I also work with really good people. That was one of the major problems I had in the past is I worked with either really lazy people or really ghetto/mean people lol. Here everyone works so hard and are so nice. I feel very fortunate.

Wow, sorry that was way long, but that has been our life over the last while. We are now just workin and doing school and livin life. It seems like we have just been going and going with no stopping, but it definiatly has been fun. To start off Thanksgiving was a blast. It would have been even better if Erik would have been able to join in on the festivities, but thats the life of a airline employee right?? Erik had to work at double on thanksgiving and the day after and then the rest of the weekend, so I decided to go to St. George for Thanksgiving. It was so good to see my family who I haven't seen in months. We had so much fun ate till we couldn't move, talked, laughed and had alot of fun. My sisters and my mom and I have never attempted going out on black Friday, but this year Sarah wanted to give it a try and so we did. on thanksgiving night the outlets opened at 11 p.m. so we stayed up and headed out. It was a complete mad house. We couldn't even move around in the stores. Needless to say we decided to head home. We rested for a few hours and at 4:45 a.m. we woke up and headed out again. We hit up Wal-mart, JC Penny, Sears, Old Navy, Target, Michaels, K-mart, Shade, and a few more I think. It was crazy, but so worth it. We got alot of killer deals and had so much fun! All in all Thanksgiving was way fun. On Sunday I went back to Provo to get the final things ready for out move to SLC. Monday morning Nick (Erik's dad) flew up to help us move and to drive the moving truck. He was suck a big help. We could not have done it without him. Thanks Nick! We are Finally getting everything organized in our little apt. I was way nervous about living in the "city" but i actually really like it here! On Dec 3. in New York they were lighting the NBC christmas tree. Erik really wanted to go so he invited him mom and early wed. morning we hopped on a flight to NYC. We arrived in New York around 4:45 p.m. By the time we got to the train and rode it into the city there were thousand of people filling the streets to see the lighting. we wandered around trying to find a spot where we could see the tree. After being shoved around and smashed and yelled at by cops and others we finally found a spot where we could see the tree. We were still a ways away but we could at least see the tree. It was a total mad house. Finally at 8:55 the lit the tree. It was pretty cool. After that wandered the city lookin at window Decorations and what not. at about 2:30 a.m. we headed to the airport and waited there for our flight out early that morning. Within about 24 hours we flew to New York, Hung out, and Flew home. We were all so tired but we had fun. I don't think I will ever do it again but it was fun. Below are a few pics of NYC. The tree was HUGE!

MOVING!!

Well our 12 month lease is finally up on our apt. here in good ol' Provo. We have been lookin for apts. for the last few weeks in SLC and finally found a decent one. We decided moving to SLC would be a good choice. Its been a pain for erik to have to drive to work an hour each way 4 days a week plus we fly a lot and we are now just minuets from the airport. It will be so convenient. I am a little nervous, but erik is super stoked! It is right in the heart of down town Salt Lake. We are about 2 blocks from temple square and the malls. As you step out our front door the high rise building are right there. Its pretty awesome! Anyways we are now going to be right in Salt Lake so come over and see our place!!!!

D.C. IN 4 HOURS

So last night Amy and I were bored and could not decide what to do so we looked at the loads and saw that the red eye to JFK was open so we took off. amazingly we got first class to new york. Amy had not seen a lot of the things there are to see in Washington D.C. so we made a connection there. and once again we got first class. yes!!!!!!(this trip is starting out great lol.) It took a lot not to just go into Manhattan since we have not been there in a while. lol. after our 3 hour layover and another 40 min flight we arrived in D.C. the pictures are in chronological order. I took her to see the changing of the guard at Arlington Cemetery, every time i see this it moves me and sends shivers through my bones. its a very humbling and moving experience. then we went to the Holocaust museum, some of the things you see in there are horrible and you just cant understand why anyone could do those things to another human being. once done there we went to the capitol where they are already under construction on the steps for the 2009 presidential inauguration, so we couldn't get too close. once done there we went to fords theater, and then across the street where Lincoln actually died. which brings me to my last topic. right next door the the house Lincoln died in is a little souvenir store that i went into in 2004. here they have the most amazing shirt on the planet. so amazing this is my third time back to go get new ones lol. you will see the picture below to know what I'm talking about. after all that we went back to the airport and took the 4:35 flight back to Salt Lake city and we are back at home less than 24 hours from the start of our great adventure.

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Like Sarah, I never thought I was a quirky person. But here are the ones I could come up with. 1. I don't wear watches or carry gum in my purse because it drives me crazy when people ask me for the time or gum. Weird I know :) 2. I don't use shopping carts when shopping. It makes me feel old. Therefore I make several trips to the store. Seeing as I don't have a job right now it gives me something to do. 3. Like both of my sisters I have a phone phobia. I feel like I'm bothering people when I call them, so call me! If only everyone could text :) 4. I love to clean/organize unless its at my house. When i go shopping I find myself picking things up and putting them back in their spots. Its funny to because as a kid and teenager I could never keep my room organized. 5. I refuse to eat things based on smell and texture. For example I hate seafood, eggnog, and many other things cause they stink! I hate yogurt, all beans (except green beans), mashed potatoes, etc., cause of the texture. 6. I hate feet. I think they are ugly and gross. Even my own. It takes a lot for me just to paint my toe nails. Well there you have it. Now you know everything about my weird self! :) I tag anyone who will do it!

Our Summer

Well we haven't made a post all summer and so I figure its time to update you all. Where to even start. We have had a fun filled summer. Following our trip to london we went to Cali for a few days to hang out. We went to disneyland and just relaxed. A few weeks later we went back to California to hang out with Erik's family. We had a total blast. We spent a alot of time swimming and hanging out at the beach. We got some sun thats for sure and eventually after all the pain it turned into a nice tan, so it was all worth it. We love going to California thats for sure. After that we went to St. George and Cedar a couple times. I had my birthday the end of July. It was a good birthday, and we had lots of fun. This last week we just got back from a really short trip to California. We have been wanting to go to a Angels game and we finally went this last monday night. The next day we went to disneyland for a couple hours and then headed home. After a 3 hour flight delay we finally got home. There were only 20 people on our flight with 120 open seats. It was pretty funny. The flight attendants kept bringing us more and more snacks. School has now started so we are trying to get back on our normal schedule. I will post some pics as soon as i upload them to the computer.

Catchin' Up

Well as you can see we are not super great at the blogging thing but we are hangin in there. We have done alot of things in the last month since we blogged. Our main event was going to London. Have I mentioned yet how much we love our flying benefits? :) On June Second we took a red eye to New York City and arrived there at 6 am. About an hour later we boarded our flight to London. We were so excited we got to fly Business Class. Business Class is so much better then First class. our seats lied flat like a bed and they gave us nice big blankets and pillows. We were also fed 2 hot meals. We got steak! I could fly hours in seats like these and with treatments like that. It was so awesome. Our flight was a little over 6 hours and when we arrived in London it was 9:30 at night. It was so wierd because we were not tired. Where we came from it was only 2:30 in the afternoon. After mapping our way to the train and through we set out on the London streets to try and find our hotel. I was really kinda nervous at this time because we were in a foreign country at about 11 at night pouring rain and had no clue where we were supposed to go. We had a general idea but not for sure. When we got off the train we asked some very nice Englishman which direction we were to head. He pointed us in the right direction and not to long later we were able to find our hole in the wall hotel. :) It was a ghetto little place. We had to share a bathroom with everyone in the hotel. Yes it was kind of sick! And to make things better there was not hot water. Our room seemed decent so we climbed into bed and fell asleep. In London the sun is up by 3:30 am so the next morning we were awake by 5. Continental breakfast didn't start till 7 so we decided to get dressed and go scope out some of the city. We were staying really close to the Buckingham Palace, so we went for a walk down there. It was Gorgeous. We then went back to the hotel for breakfast. We were expecting a variety of things at breakfast but boy were we wrong. lol she cam out with toast and a small bowl of corn flakes, and that was what we got for breakfast. After we ate we decided that since we didnt have alot of time and we really wanted to see the city, to get a sightseeing bus tour of the city. So for 3 hours we sat on the top of a double decker bus and drove through the city and listened to the narations. It was actually alot of fun. That night Avril Lavigne happened to have a concert in London. We got really cheap tickets and headed over to the concert to see her again. We got standing tickets. That was the most miserable concert I have ever been to. Don't get me wrong she did great and we had fun it was just to packed and really really really hot! Never again will we get standing tickets. lol The next morning we left our hotel at 3 am to catch a bus to the airport. we flew to ireland then to New York and then to SLC. Even though our trip was super short we loved it and had so much fun. I will post some pics so you can see.

Avril Lavigne

For Christmas Erik got tickets to Avril Lavigne's concert in Las Vegas. It was right on the beach. This was the view from our room. It was BEAUTIFUL!

Wow, this last month has flown by. I don't even know where all the time has gone or what we have even been doing. What I do know is we have been doing alot of traveling, but what's new. I will just update you on all our travels. Have I mentioned how much I love the flying benefits? lol Well in April we made another trip to California to hang with Eriks family there. While we were there we went to disney land again, and got season passes so we can go whenever we want! I was pretty excited about that because I just love disneyland. the following week we made a trip to Denver to see more of Eriks family. The main reason for our trip there was to see Eriks cousin Aubrey who is really sick in the hospital. Erik hasn't seen her for a few years, and I have never met her, so it was really good to see and meet her. The next weekend my family was in Provo for my sister and brothers in law college graduations. We had alot of fun seeing them and hanging out. The following week we decided to take another trip. This time we headed to St. George/Cedar City to hang with our Families. I had a blast seeing as we have no friends her. It was good to be able to hang with my friends again. Then this last week we took a last minuet trip to Cabo, Mexico. It was a total blast and absolutely beautiful. Our Hotel/Resort was right on the beach with a Huge Swimming pool and water and sand volleyball. We never left the resort the entire 3 days we were there. It was heavenly. I layed out on the beach for 6 hours and got a little bit of a tan while erik played volleyball in the pool with a bunch of people for 6 hours. The only down side was that I didn't put any sun block on my face and my forehead is now beat red, and I have a nice sunglasses tan line. I am also starting to peel really bad, so I look like I have some wierd skin problem. Other then the face issue, I got a pretty good tan to start the summer off. Following our trip to Mexico, we took a 10 hour plane ride to California for Eriks Grandpa's show. It was the longest ride of my life, but we were glad to be there and had alot of fun. Now we are back home and trying to get back into the swing of things. We will be taking a break from traveling for the next couple weeks before we head off to Europe for a week. Im a little nervous. Im not sure I like the feeling of being in a foreign county and not knowing where the heck im going, but im still stoked nonetheless. As soon as I upload our pics I will post them.

It's been a while!

Well it has been quite a while since we made a post so I decided i would let update you all on our lives. We have still been traveling a lot except we got to take a nice break this week and stay home and relax, but we will start up again next week. We went to California over Easter for a few days. While we were there Erik's aunt blessed her baby, and we went to disneyland. We had alot of fun! The week after that Erik and I and his parents went to New York for a day. It was also alot of fun. We went to see a Yankee game. I have never seen the yankees play, so I was pretty stoked, but it ended up being so freakin cold it was hard for me to enjoy it.:) maybe another time!! other then the game we walked around New York and visited the Manhatten Temple, slept in the baggage claim area of the airport (It was so sick!) and headed home bright and early the next morning. It was alot of fun but we were both sooo tired!

Anyways down to more recent things...I have been so sick and tired of my ugly hair! I have been trying to decide what to do with my bangs because they bug me so bad so i decided to grow them out. Also my hair has grown and faded ALOT since i colored it brown so now its starting to look gray. All in all I have been going through a really ugly stage over the last month or so. So yesterday I decided to get brave. I have had long hair for nearly 10 years, and I have really begun missing my blonde hair. I didn't know if I should cut my hair short because I didnt want it to make my face look even rounder and chubbier then it already it hahaha, but I went for it anyways. The girl gave me some really good advice and I trusted her and let her do what she thought would be cute. Well after 4 hours I came out with my hair 10 inches shorter and very blonde hair! I cried on my way home. I was so sad, but then I got lots of compliments and even Erik really liked it so I feel lots better, and I think I even love it :)

wow that was alot of rambling... well there you go you are all updated!

When I woke up this morning I opened the blinds and noticed how sunny it was. Is spring here yet!!!!!???? I am so sick of the rain and snow and cold. over the past few weeks we have had such beautiful weather, then this weekend it snowed and rained again! Maybe its because I grew up in St. George where we never see snow and rarely ever rain, but this winter weather has been CRAZY! Here is a picture we took from our window. There was no way I was going out in that. I had to go out one morning and slid off the road 3 times. I officially hate the cold and snow.

Our Travels

Since Erik has started working for the airlines again he has gotten awesome benefits. We absolutely love them and take full advantage of them as often as possible. during the last month we have gone somewhere every weekend I think. We went to St. George then to California then back to St. George, and then most recently last weekend we went to New York City. We always have a total blast. As soon as we can figure this thing out we will post some pictures of our trip to New York. Our trip was short and sweet be we had so much fun. It is definitely our favorite place to go!

Here We Are

Well here we are.
